Irish Pound the Raiders

Our "paint-up" guys adopted the slogan NEW COACH, SAME RESULT for this game, and it turns out they were right on the money. The Irish handily defeated the Raiders 52-7 before a packed house in the first game played in the renovated Shamrock Bowl!

The game opened with the Irish winning the coin toss and deferring to the Raiders. On the third play of the game the Irish knock the football loose and take over possession on WL's 15 yard line. Brian W. take the ball down to the 3 and goes on to score on the next play. The kick is good and the Irish have a 7-0 lead just 1:16 into the game.

The Irish again take over the ball at the WL 15 just three minutes into the game. On the next three plays Brian W. goes down to the 4, Thomas B. take it to the 2, and then Jamon M. takes the ball into the endzone. PAT is good and the Irish lead 14-0 just 4:14 into the game.

The Raiders turn to their passing game on their third possession and two quick pass completions result in a Raider TD. The point after is good and its a 14-7 ball game with 6:49 left in the first quarter.

For a moment it looks as if the Raiders might give the Irish a ball game, but it's not to be. Brian W. snags a Raider pass with just under three minutes left in the first quarter. This sets up an opportunity for a TD pass to Brandon T. Kick is good and the Irish open their lead to 21-0 and never look back.

Long story short...you web guy had to leave at half-time and a lot of hectic activity kept me from seeing the next two touchdowns. Suffice it to say that the Irish posted two more TDs and extra points in the first quarter to boast a 35-7 lead at the half. The first scoreboard picture in the gallery was taken at half-time with the 35-7 on the board. The Irish went on to put another 17 points on the board in the second half and walk away with the win, 52-7! The scoreboard photo showing the final score was borrowed from www.dublinirishfootball.com.

Congratulations go out to everyone involved in the Shamrock Bowl renovations. Shamrock Bowl has a long and proud history, and these renovations insure that the Bowl will continue its status as one of the finest high school stadiums in the state.
